Winnende foto's! Winning photo's!

Superleuk!

A couple of weeks ago a photo of mine was chosen for a third place in a photo of the month (April) contest with the theme 'Nostalgic landscape' of the dutch nature magazine Roots. I was very happy and my price was a beautiful book on photography and my photo got published in the magazine. Really great!

Then on a Monday, when I got home from the swimming lessons of my daughter, feeling slightly cranky, I opened my mailbox. One new mail titled 'Congratulations!', "yeah right", I thought, "spam probably..." But I was wrong, the sender was Digifoto Pro, a Dutch magazine in which I also entered into a competition. The theme was spring, and a friend urged me to send in a photo, because she was sure I'd win something with it. After I opened the link in the e-mail, I was stunned to see I'd won the first prize! And what a good one! A trip to the Farne Isles in the north of England. A great destination for a wildlife photographer!
Soon I received many nice and sweet congratulations, and I couldn't get the smile of my face for days. Even after the interview and the ceremony at the publishers' I still couldn't quite believe I'm going on a trip! Now, a day before leaving, with my gear packed, it gets more real. Now I'm only hoping I don't wake up from this dream, but I'll really get on board!

Grutto/ Black-tailed Godwit

The king of meadowbirds calls out it's name across the fields from late february/ early march. In large numbers at first, later on, more in couples. This spring I followed them intensively and tried to capture them in different ways. I mainly concentrated on action shots of Black-taild Godwits in special lighting. Mainly with sunrise or sunsets, sometimes both on the same day. Off all the pictures I took, I could easily make 10 blogs. But I won't... This is a small selection of my collection of Black-tailed Godwits pictures, made this spring.
